Click-Once Troubleshooting

The click-once application is based on Microsoft Click-Once technology.  It downloads an application from a web page and installs it to the user’s own profile (ex.: c:\users\<username>\AppData\Local\Novarad…).

All communication occurs through a secure, encrypted connection over HTTPS (port 443).

Any version updates to the application on the server will trigger a new download the next time the user runs the application.

Prerequisites

  • Make sure .NET Framework 4.6.2 or higher is installed on the computer that will run the application.  This is generally done by a user with administrative permissions.

  • If the user is using Chrome or Firefox, follow the instructions indicated in Step 2 of the Pre-Launch checklist. Without the click once framework, the application file will download but will not be able to run.

  • The user must be able to access the web page with the application launcher over HTTPS.

 Troubleshooting Tips

  • Add the Novarad.net URL to trusted sites in your browser and reduce the security of trusted sites to low.

  • In your browser options make sure downloads, font download, and enable.NET Framework setup are all enabled.

  • Add the Novarad.net URL to your browser’s backward-compatibility options

  • Make sure your Windows user account has full access security permissions to the following folders.

    • C:\Program Data\Novarad

    • C:\[USER]\AppData\Local\Apps

    • C:\Windows\Temp

  • If you have an anti-virus installed, add the three folders in the last step to the exception policy or try disabling your anti-virus.

  • To check for permissions problems, try logging into the machine with a Windows user account that is a Local Administrator (this is for folder permission testing). If it works for this user and not less-privileged accounts, contact your computer administrator for help.

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies.

  • Delete the 2.0 folder located here: C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0. This is a hidden folder, you will need to show hidden folders.

  • Older PCs may need to have TLS 1.2 enabled. This will need to be done by the computer administrator. To enable TLS 1.2 on a server or workstation, copy and paste the below into notepad:

    • Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319]"SchUseStrongCrypto"=dword:00000001

  • Save the file as ‘DOTNET-TLS12.reg’ then run it.
