The employees of Novarad were saddened to see the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan over the winter. In response to this our executive team coordinated with our office based in the Philippines to see what efforts would most benefit those affected by the storm. To coordinate our efforts we worked with Mike Johnson, a Novarad employee in the Philippines, who also serves as a chairman on the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation a charity that works to provide medical care in the Philippines.
Over the Christmas Holiday, we invited Novarad employees to donate and contribute to the cause. Thanks to the generosity of Novarad employees, we raised over $3,800 that were given to the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation. Mike Johnson, said of Novarad’s efforts, “We appreciate their fundraising efforts, as there are still many without homes or any real means of supporting themselves or their families.” He explained that the funds will be used to provide medical care, relief goods such as food, clothing and other basic necessities. The money donated will also provide construction kits, which will help many families rebuild their homes that were destroyed by the storm. The Mabuhay Deseret Foundation also assembled a team of 10 Americans who had previously lived in the Philippines. During their visit they helped with building homes, clearing roads and providing medical care to those with the greatest need. Their knowledge of the culture and language has greatly influenced the effect they have had on the people of the Philippines.
