Lung cancer guidelines could expand CT screening to 94 million

The American Association for Thoracic Surgery has produced new guidelines for lung cancer screening. These new guidelines are more inclusive than the first guidelines set in place by the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). It will be interesting to see which guidelines are eventually adopted by the majority of physicians.

Study shows patients unclear about radiologists’ role

According to a recent survey conducted in Arizona 40% of the people receiving an imaging exam did not know the role of the radiologist played in their experience. This led the researchers to suggest that radiologists become more involved in patients care directly communicating with the patients. Although, the study also showed that less than half of the patients would like to get the results of an abnormal exam in person.
