NovaradConnect Recap

Written by Welby Hansen, Director of Implementation

Well y’all, it was off to Nashville, the Country Music Capital of the World, and the beautiful Gaylord Opryland Resort, for our annual Novarad user conference. Sporting the new “NovaradConnect” name and logo, the Novarad team was well prepared to put on our best conference yet for our loyal users. The turnout this year was outstanding with over 60 of our customers attending from all over the country.

The opening ceremony was kicked off by Cheryl Adams, who welcomed all of our guests, covered some logistics for the conference and poured on the charm as only Cheryl can do, to make everyone feel welcome. She included the old “Donny and Marie” video of “A Little Bit Country and a Little Bit Rock and Roll,” saying that the audience should be glad that she and Tim would not be performing the number themselves. Following Cheryl’s intro, Tim Law gave us an enlightening key note speech focused on Novarad dedication and commitment to providing quality products.

This year’s training agenda included our most popular classes from years past such as Building a Better Workflow, Advanced PACS training, IT/Support & System Maintenance, HL7, and Dragon Training, as well as some new offerings which included DICOM Basics, Introduction to RIS, MARZ, and Meaningful Use. The Novarad team put on a phenomenal performance with the likes of Doug Madsen, Stacy Parker, David Clark, Steve Fowler, Bill Helm, and many others presenting.

As usual, Novarad turned the spotlight on several of our partners to present, including Steve Massey from PACSHealth, David Cooke from SynterMed, Raj Mathur from Criterions, and the Novarad South team. Our customer panel featured Clay Denning from Thibodaux Regional Medical Center in Louisiana, Larry Lempka from Campbell County Memorial in Wyoming, and Forrest Bridges III from Gulf Coast MRI & Diagnostic in Texas. It was an engaging session, and provided a favorite opportunity for all who attended to find out how each of the guest speakers makes the best of Novarad products to increase their productivity.

As with every year, the Hospital/Imaging Centers Roundtable Discussions were a big hit and gave our customers the opportunity to chime in on what they thought should be the next new feature in our products. Once the nominations were all in, each group was given three votes to determine which features would be the top four nominated for consideration by Novarad. Many of the attendees took advantage of earning the CE credits we are able to offer from ASRT.

For entertainment, a few Novarad employees accompanied our guests on a dinner cruise (a “three hour tour”) aboard the General Jackson River Boat. We enjoyed dinner and a great show of the history of music in Tennessee. Chip Shaw of Novarad South was called up on stage for “audience participation” to help everyone learn the chicken dance. THAT was entertaining. We also loved seeing the Nashville skyline by night!

Since the conclusion of the conference, we have had positive feedback from our customers. We have already met to refine the meetings further, making them even more efficient, informative, and enjoyable. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of NovaradConnect and, of course, to our great customers who make it all worthwhile. For more images, visit our Facebook page!
